Cricketer Cup Over 50s Semi-Finals
The semi-finals of the Over 50s competition were completed over the last two weekends and the final will be between Bradfield Waifs, the holders, and Old Tonbridgians. Bradfield Waifs beat Harrow Wanderers at Harrow. They bowled them out for 187 in 34 overs, Edward Gordon-Lennox making 42 for the Wanderers, and then won by 3 wickets with four balls of the 35 overs to spare. Will Kendall starred with bat and ball, taking 3-36 and making 50 not out.
Old Tonbridgians had an easier victory over Old Wellingtonians at Tonbridge. Wellington were understrength compared to previous rounds and toiled in the field as Tonbridge made 224-4 in their 35 overs, Jamie Ford top-scoring with 64 not out. In reply Wellington made 150 in 30 overs, their star performer being Bedford Headmaster and former Tonbridge housemaster, James Hodgson, who made 75 not out. Ali Owen-Browne took 3-26.
The final is scheduled to be played at Bradfield on Sunday 19 July, with many of the same players involved from when these two teams met in three Cricketer Cup finals in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
