Cricketer Cup Results 17 May

The three Cricketer Cup bye rounds were all completed yesterday, along with the one match outstanding in the first round of the Over 50s.

At Ampleforth, there was a cracking game between the hosts and Repton Pilgrims. Old Amplefordians scored 293-5 in their 46 allotted overs with a magnificent 152 not out from their captain Toby Pratt. Rain meant that the Pilgrims chased a slightly reduced target of 290. They went along steadily with 61 from opening bat Tarrant, but were looking in trouble at 129-4. Then 58 from Richardson and 45 from Haleem took them to a more comfortable 237-5 and they just managed to get home in the last over by two wickets. Repton now host Marlborough Blues in the first round on 14 June.

At Radley newcomers to the competition, Old Elizabethans, took their hosts the whole way in another tight game. Elizabethans, the alumni club from RGS Worcester, made 224 in 49 overs, Tom Odell top-scoring with 63 and Ethan Berlisconi the best Radley bowler with 4-37. Opener Ollie Martyn-Hempill scored 73 for the Rangers, but they were in trouble at 114-6 and then 171-7 until Rollo Harrap took them home by three wickets with 53 not out. Tom Odell completed a fine all-round performance with 4-35. Radley now host Haileybury Hermits on 14 June.

At Rugby where the Meteors hosted Old Alleynians, Rugby made 239-8 in their 50 overs with 95 from Harry Butler and 70 from Robbie Povey. Dulwich reached 120-1 thanks to forties from Cox and Endon, but then succumbed to 184 all out in 44 overs, Saqlain Choudhary taking 5-40. Rugby are now away at Malvern in the first round.

In the last of the Over 50s first round matches Eton Ramblers made 190-5 in their 35 overs but this was easily chased down by Uppingham Rovers who won by 7 wickets, Chris Timm taking a hat-trick for the winners. Uppingham now travel to Harrow in the second round on 31 May, when the others games are Tonbridge v Cheltenham, Wellington v Sherborne and Harrow v Oundle.
