Prospects for Over 50s Cricketer Cup in 2026

The Over 50s Cricketer Cup goes from strength to strength with sixteen teams in this year’s competition. The organiser is Freddie Tulloch (Eton Ramblers) who shares here his thoughts on the 2026 cup:

After a steady start, The Over 50’s Cricketer Cup has really taken off this year with an impressive sixteen teams set to battle it out for the prestigious trophy. Despite the additional teams, Bradfield, the unbeaten champions of the past two years, are still red hot favourites. They start with a home fixture vs the Stowe Templars which has the potential of leading to a mouth-watering quarter-final vs Oundle, followed by a semi vs Uppingham Rovers, who they beat in last year’s final.

The top half of the draw is no easier with Tonbridge, the Wykehamists and Cholmeleians facing five new entries to the competition.

As past champions, Bradfield will host the final, to be played on Sunday, 19th July.

For those not up to date on the format – all players must be 50+ on the day of the match, 35 overs aside with a max of 7 overs per bowler. Teams are encouraged to have a prompt morning start with a decent break for lunch and an opportunity for old mates and adversaries to have a proper catch up. Matches are played in great spirit but don’t for one moment think that they are not competitive! Since the draw a couple of other schools have indicated that they would like to enter the 2027 competition, which is very exciting. If your school would like to enter or would like more information, please contact Freddie Tulloch: freddie@ftulloch.com.
